A Simple Concept...

I think technlogy is such an amazing tool.
Whats more amazing is that this whole mxit list saga has brought together young and old, various schools of thought and diverse ppl all using the medium of mxit, to stand up against injustice.

I must commend everyone for speaking their minds as humans. Morality is such an important concept and practice in society. It must be kept safe and secure and all humans must protect each others modesty.

Islam shows us modesty in clothing and in methods of communication etc, but I need everyone to know..that Islam doesnt say to be modest you must wear cloak and scarf and sit in your house and cook and pray...nor does it say to men to wear kurta and topi and work and hide ur wife and daughters and pray whole day...NO NO NO!!

Islamc says wearing this type of clothing is the best form of modesty...but its about how you are and how you act not only about how u dress, cos you can wear a kurta and topi and be swearing and making out and ripping ppl off.

So yes, be sincere with yourself, guys you can wear jeans and a t shirt and still be the best muslim ever, girls you can wear jeans and a top (as long as its loose :P) and still be the best muslim ever!

But dont forget, guys a beard shows your islamic identity, doesnt have to be big and curly, as long as you have some hair on your face is good enough and girls, a scarf is your identity so wear it and cover your hair. You get so many diff colours and styles which makes you so much more beautiful, not just beautiful but islamically beautiful.

Hope i make sense, apologies for a long post, just wanted to mention my thoughts since this mxit list is related to modesty.

Changes...

Wow, I think its been over 1 and a half years since I have, let alone posted, but even looked at my blog. Reading my previous posts that long ago only make me laugh and wonder at how my life has changed, and how I have matured in my being, my thinking, my ideologies and my beliefs.

I can say alhamdulillah (all praise is due to Allah) that through all my experiences in life I have grown more understanding, accepting and becoming, but its all through the love and mercy of my creator, Allah (SWT). Alot has happened in my life since I last posted and I dont think this space will be enough to mention it all, but the overall effect was change, and change for the better.

I think being a muslim requires an individual to constantly evolve in various ways and not only spiritually. I think one of the problems with muslims (in South Africa cos i haven't been overseas) is that we concentrate too much on the literal meanings of Islam. We need to take time out, and yes we do have the time to take out, and begin to understand the deeper meanings of Islam. We say Islam is a way of life rather than a ritualistic religion right, but then if it is so, then it means that it controls every aspect of our life, and it also means that it allows for change, for progression, which further means that Islam is a progressive religion. But hear me out, it doesnt mean its principles change according to the times, its principles of respect, dignity, honour, loyalty, prestige, non violence, love, friendship, coolness, fun, and entertainment are the same, BUT its method of doing so or practicing can change. For example right, take the principles of clothing and modesty in Islam. A man in the Prophet Muhammad's (Peace and Blessings Be Upon) time in Saudi Arabia, used to wear clothing of the Arabs (Kurta). It was their culture, so the Prophet being born in this place wore that type of clothing. However, when the muslims at that time decided to travel and spread the message to other countries such as African countries, the Africans didnt start wearing kurtas once they accepted the religion, they wore what they always wore, BUT as Islam requires that from the navel to the knee for a man to be covered, so did the Africans. So similarly in contemprary times, wearing an item of clothing be it jeans, shorts, skirts, dresses that follows according to the simple practice of Islam for male or female doesnt change Islam's principles but rather since Islam is a way of life, it adapted to the times and allows for change.

So change is inevitable, its gonna happen, so accept it and live with it and enjoy it but always link it to the humanistic ideas of reality which is Islam.

I hope this blog revival shall be a new beginning in my life, that Allah will instill more creative thoughts that are beneficial to me and others.

Thanks MaK for inspiring me at 3 am to start blogging (lol)

The Begining

Assalaamu Alaikum

Ahlan Wa Sahlan, and welcome to my personal blog.
I think its about time I join the Blog world in this Blog revolution. I see it as a conservatives nightmare because this gives anyone and everyone the platform to speak their mind, and express their views.

Well as my profile says, I am Nazeer Jamal, (aka nazjam). Born and brought up, proudly muslim and proudly South African!
My aim in life is simply to please Him, for He is my creator, my provider, my desire, the ONE nd only Allah (SWT), and to be amongst the true believers, and be risen on the Final Day, with our guide, our leader, our amir, Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

I ask Allah in his infinite mercy to guide me to the correct path and protect me from Shaitaan the cursed one!

Until next time
Ma'assalaam

Naz.
